For those of you who have recently joined the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL), we welcome you to our organization. For those of you who recently renewed your membership in the Society, we thank you for your continued support.
As you can see, www.issotl.org is the address for our website. This will be the primary place to look for updated information on the Society, conferences, and related events. We hope that you will visit the site on a regular basis.
One of the benefits of being a Society member is our ISSOTL Listserv. The purpose of this list is to communicate with you about a variety of topics. We use this list to send you links to and calls for ISSOTL’s newsletter The International Commons, to alert you to new benefits for members, to bring you information about upcoming conferences, and more. The list is restricted to postings from ISSOTL Communications Coordinator Nancy Chick and ISSOTL Secretary Jeff Bernstein. We understand how much email you get, so we will limit our postings so as not to inundate your mailbox.
Another Society benefit is ISSOTL's traditional (voluntary) listserv in which all members can post items for the list to see, and engage in discussions with each other. Consider joining the conversation. If you are interested in doing so, please click here. Contact ISSOTL Secretary Jeff Bernstein at jbernstei@emich.edu if you have any questions.
ISSOTL is also on Facebook, so you can become a Friend of "ISSOTL Commoner" and/or a Fan of the "ISSOTL" page.
We hope you'll get involved with ISSOTL by reading and contributing to the Society's newsletter, The International Commons. You'll find that it's more than the traditional newsletter in the quality and substance of some of its contributions. As new issues of The International Commons are posted, you will receive an email letting you know that one has been published. To see previous issues, simply click Newsletter in the menu on the left. In addition to reading and enjoying this and previous issues, think about ways that you can contribute to the newsletter as well; it is a great venue for dialogue and communication between members.
There are many ways you may get involved with ISSOTL as part of your membership. Visit our "Get Involved" page for details. One popular way is through ISSOTL's various Interest Groups which you may join, or you may begin your own. Visit our Interest Groups & External Affiliates page for calls for members, and read the policy statement if you'd like to initiate a new group.
You may see the other benefits your ISSOTL membership brings you by visiting the website's “Join/Renew” page. These include discounts to a variety of journals and publications.
Again, welcome to ISSOTL.
