Teaching and Learning:CASTL

Scholars
For faculty from higher education - brings together
outstanding teacher-scholars from a variety of academic fields and institutions
to pursue investigations of issues in teaching and learning.

Teaching Academy Campus Program
Coordinated for the Carnegie Foundation by AAHE. Institutions in higher
education that are prepared to make a public commitment to the scholarship
of teaching and learning are invited to join the Campus Conversations
program. As progress is made, campuses are invited to apply for small
grants for the Going Public phase. CASTL now is also encouraging the formation
of National Networks of Teaching Academy Campuses.
The
AAHE CASTL Campus Program Web Center includes a number
of resources for thinking about SOTL, including reports from campus conversations,
a list of going public grants and selected resources.
Work with the Scholarly and Professional
Societies
Carnegie is encouraging societies to increase their emphasis on teaching
and on the scholarship of teaching and learning. This is a continuation
of work under AAHE FFRR culminating in two publications which contain
perspectives of disciplinary societies on Boyers four scholarships:
The Disciplines Speak AAHE, 1994 and The
Disciplines Speak II AAHE, 2001.
