Knefelkamp’s characterization of Seasons of Academic Life seems worthwhile reading for any faculty member. This particular article may serve as a basis for a meaningful exercise in deepening understanding of “Why SOTL?” The recommended exercise is to read Knefelkamp’s description of each season and then pause to reflect on the possible roles that scholarship of teaching and learning may take during it and the implications for the faculty member.
